Green Growth Bangladesh (GGB) promotes sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation through research, advocacy and capacity building on emerging agricultural trends, species management and climate-smart agricultural practices that enhance food security, improve livelihoods and protect ecosystems.
Agriculture employs close to 40 percent of Bangladesh’s workforce, yet farmers face salinity intrusion in the coast, flash floods in the haor basin, drought in the Barind tract and shrinking farmland from rapid urbanisation. GGB works across a variety of value chains, with growing expertise in jute, rice, vegetables, aquaculture and homestead agroforestry.
We promote biodiversity conservation by supporting agroecology, water-efficient irrigation, sustainable land use, native seed preservation and the restoration of degraded wetlands and forest patches. These efforts aim to balance agricultural productivity with the preservation of biodiversity, ensuring long-term ecological and economic benefits for communities.
